''Books Vs Ebooks'' By Allen
Think about the last time you had a pleasurable reading. Was it in a book or an ebook ?
Not sure ?
Well books, whether electronic or paperback, have always been the source of our knowledge progress. They have shaped the very identity of the world, and thereupon become the reason of its development since its infancy. They have been the canvas where we drew our philosophical and imaginative ideas, the vehicle that will carry us to a far more exceptional world in the distant future. And finally, they are the animate picture of our ancestors' primitive lives that transferred to us the sweet memories of humanity. However, in the course of this progress, books have come to face a twist in their history. They have separated into paperback and electronic, and to some worried readers, the difference between the two is generating a profound impact on the nature of reading.
Some might insist that ebooks are easily accessible, but others would praise the beauty of paper-books. But, it doesn't stop at that because there are plenty of advantages and disadvantages that govern the two.
So, what's the best tool for reading ?
The majority of readers would argue that reading shall never be thought of as electronic. After all, the origin was a paper-book, and it's been the case for so many centuries that simply we cannot detach the image of a book from learning. In fact, its mere name would conjure up the impression of profound wisdom and knowledge. As such, some traditional people, mostly the elderly, consider ebooks now but a helpless attempt to replace the real books, a sort of fake copycat that endeavors to destroy the charm of paper-books with its exaggerated and superficial modernity. For teenagers, however, ebooks are rather perceived as the new vogue, an elevation from the obsolete to excellency. They would praise the plentiful functions you use for more pleasing experience, and the different colors and fonts you may apply by a sole tap of the thumb. Paper-books for them are a waste of space and burdening weight to carry wherever you go.
Aside from this, the issue of reading should be rather focused on which type provides comfort and the best atmosphere for reading and knowledge acquisition.
Debate : Book Vs Ebook (Poem)
(Book starts)
"How awful !" The book cried,
"To have degraded reading to this bottommost level"
"I condemn you as a disgrace with an inflated pride!"
"In fact, you are nothing but a distraction, a malicious devil!"
(Ebook)
"Look at yourself!" the ebook bitterly replied.
"Your pages have become tattered and yellow"
"Your spine is brittle and your value had died"
"You belong to the past old fellow"
"What is old for you is, in fact, rather special and refined."
"For, the touch of my pages is soothing and enjoyable."
"And my unique smell refreshes the weary mind"
"This is why I can be resold, collected, and thus, become more valuable."
"These are just unnecessary preferences."
"As for me, I can be instantly accessed and easily obtained."
"You mean how you spread plagiarism and destroyed the meaning of "references" ?"
The book asked in sarcasm and the ebook quietened, extremely ashamed.
(Book continuing)
"I have led humanity to this glorious age"
"And so, any sane soul would gaze upon me with a grateful smile"
"For, I'm the precious jewel in the palms of a sage."
"So cheaply contrived but very worthwhile"
(Ebook again.)
"Unlike you, I have a brought a radical change."
"Departing from the ancient, I have proved your ways to be lacking efficiency and style. "
"I may be slightly costly but in exchange ?"
"I can store many books from which you would be making a huge pile"
"Space is incomparable to the priceless human sight !"
"Do you not reason or has your mechanism gone mad ?"
"You have damaged their eyes with your unnecessarily colorful light."
"Then, demolished the charm of attending a bookstore, to which I truly feel sad."
"Enough with your technophobia!" The ebook said out of spite.
"Whichever little flaw you find you immediately declare the thing in question as bad."
"People can read me in the warmth of bed at midnight."
"Plus, I provide other functions, options, highlights, and notes to add."
(Audiobook comes in and interrupts)
"Why, dear fellows, do you have to dwell into such mutual hostility?"
"Reading should not be exclusive to one of you."
"For example, I have introduced reading through listening which, indeed, is of greater utility" ''Hence, let us all be used, if you have any clue."
"Despite of how annoying and monotonous your voice can be,"
"I do think your words have some truth" the book said.
"Then, " ebook continued "it shall be marvelous if the three of us all agree,"
"all what matters is that the love of reading should be further spread !"
********* End *********
Indeed, as we have seen through the poetic debate, each of the two presents itself as a better tool under certain circumstances, and it therefore would be somewhat opinionated to restrict oneself to, say, only book reading. So, it is beneficial to use the suitable tool when the opportunity demands. For, no matter how much one of them may feel as the best type of reading to us, we cannot help but admit that the other types can also yield other benefits we may be in need of.

I am a teenager and i still prefer Paper-books! Call me old school but there's nothing compared to holding that book in your hands and sniffing its addicting smell *.* However, that doesn't mean I don't like e-books, i still read them because I can have as many on my phone as I want and read them wherever I am.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure your father will be proud of you to be still fond of paper-books. Lol .. And Yes, I agree with you. Totally. #Allen.
