Books

This is a monthly collection of books to read in the month of August. Each book represents a reading genre that you might be interested in, or wanting to give it a try, so be sure to pick at least one book, for all the books were chosen with taste and care. Comment the book you have chosen in order to see which books were chosen the best.

        1.  Self-Help :
Smarter Faster Better by Charles Duhigg :

An interesting book that discusses some of the powerful techniques to transform your life into success through effective habit-formation. If you are looking for productivity then this book is your must-read.

       2.  Historical Fiction :
Life After Life by Kate Atkinson :

This is a story where the author plays with time and history through the life of Ursula Todd who, strangely, dies several times and is reborn to face the fate of civilization.

        3.   Horror :
The Shining by Stephen King :

His child, having dark visions and psychic powers, begins to experience them more often when the father becomes the caretaker of the Overlook Hotel. Over time, that hotel turns out to be more sinister than it seemed and darkly starts to reveal a more evil force that threatens the family.

        4.    Paranormal Fantasy :
Til Death by Kate Evangelista :

Sixteen-year old Selena Fallon is a dreamer. Not a day-dreamer, but an I-see-the-future kind of dreamer. Normally this is not a problem as she has gotten pretty good at keeping her weird card hidden from everyone in her small town. Except from her best friend Kyle and her grandparents, of course. But when Selena dreams of her own rather bloody death, things get a little too freaky even for her.

          5.   Non-Fiction :
                                        Creativity by Philippe Petit :

Since well before his epic 1974 walk between the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, Philippe Petit had become an artist who answered first and foremost to the demands of his craft—not only on the high wire, but also as a magician, street juggler, visual artist, builder, and writer. A born rebel like many creative people, he was from an early age a voracious learner who taught himself, cultivating the attitudes, resources, and techniques to tackle even seemingly impossible feats.

         6.    Humor, Religion, Non-Fiction :
Christian Science by Mark Twain :

An amusing assault on Christian Science's more extravagant claims to cure illness and on founder Mary Baker Eddy's obfuscating writing style.

          7.    Romance :
                                     True Believer by Nicholas Sparks

Jeremy Marsh is the ultimate New Yorker: handsome, almost always dressed in black, and part of the media elite. An expert on debunking the supernatural with a regular column in "Scientific American," he's just made his first appearance on national TV. When he receives a letter from the tiny town of Boone Creek, North Carolina, about ghostly lights that appear in a legend-shrouded cemetery, he can't resist driving down to investigate...

          8.    Young Fiction, Fantasy :
The False Princess by Eilis O'Neil :

Princess and heir to the throne of Thorvaldor, Nalia's led a privileged life at court.  But everything changes when it's revealed, just after her sixteenth birthday, that she is a false princess, a stand-in for the real Nalia, who has been hidden away for her protection. The story has an intriguing mixture of wizardy and adventure that will keep your hands glued to the book.

          9.   Philosophy :
Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder :

A page-turning novel that is also an exploration of the great philosophical concepts of Western thought, Sophie’s World has fired the imagination of readers all over the world.

           10.    Science :
Ignorance - How It Drives Science -  by Stuart Firestein

Knowledge is a big subject, says Stuart Firestein, but ignorance is a bigger one. And it is ignorance--not knowledge--that is the true engine of science.

  4. All things considered, not precisely. There's a whole other world to it than that. Truth be told, the customer or unique book writer is a vital piece of the procedure, and in reality is composing his own particular book through the book professional writer. E-book
