Are Algerians Good at English ?

‘’Are you crazy ! » You would often overhear an Algerian teenager say to his friend. And you would smile at that. After all, it is motivating to know that Algerians are adopting the English language in their everyday life. Concerning social media, we have also set keen eyes on the usual use of English by Algerians, and we were not disappointed. In a world where knowing English is central to progressing forward and communicating with people beyond seas, Algerians, seemed to us to do just fine. However, the reality of this issue is far worse than we have imagined.

English Proficiency in Algeria :

Upon a thorough investigation of rank statistics about English proficiency in EFL countries, we have encountered shocking results. On the scale of 72 countries, Netherlands, Denmark, and Sweden topped the list with strikingly excellent results. Algeria ranked #67, that is among the last ones, being preceded by Mongolia and others as having ‘’A Very Weak’’ English level. The score obtained in this test by the 950 000 Algerian contestants was fairly below average. Women, interestingly, performed slightly better than men in it. (Somehow women are always better. Another thing worth investigation.) It should be mentioned that this test was on educational aspect of English use, but it still gives a terrible omen about English in general.

English in Algerian Social Media :

There is a rising social activity in English in Algeria. We keep seeing numerous English social media groups and pages emerging everyday, whether they are concerned mainly with entertainment and fun or self-education, they should be still considered as good initiatives toward a better progress. In fact, English Youtube videos, educational images and writings by Algerians are rolling in every now and then, shouting, though with hoarse voices, for attention to self-improvement. Furthermore, we do notice a thirst to speak English by monolingual people, and social media, therefore, lends itself as the best tool to introduce English to them. It's because the more contact with the language, the more effective that language is acquired. But, for now, the English level and degree of usage in Algeria remains progressing at a very slow rate, thus it’s our responsibility to call for its use and betterment, be it in education or day-to-day life.

Algeria and English :

Being a country that is identified with noticeable language diversity, Algeria is then quite skillful at communicating using multiple languages. However, it can be observed that the English words have a significantly lower occurrence compared to other languages for the average person. To identify the core issue about this, one can almost automatically blame the educational system. But, even the average Algerian is to be blamed, for much support and motivation is needed, even from their part. So, let's spread the love for learning and self-expression, and years from now, so much more teenagers should be heard speaking English.

The Power of a Flower

A morning rain just ceased to fall at exactly 7 AM. It was quite a cold weather that day, and the street was wet and clean. A woman came out of her house, with her purse at her side, seemingly going to her work. Her high heels' tapping echoed through the silent neighborhood. Descending the couple of stairs of her house, the woman suddenly stopped at her heels to stare at a beautiful bouquet of flowers nicely put at her doorstep. It literally took her by surprise. This had never happened before. The woman did not have a beloved, nor did she have anyone who usually offered her flowers. So, she picked up the nice bouquet, with a growing happiness and actually headed back inside her house. She couldn't just go to work without knowing who it was from, right ?

Inside her house, she peeked from her window as she smelled the flowers. They were charming and of an excellent taste. She found a note stuck to the bouquet, and after she read it, her hands shook in excitement. It was from a man, probably a secret admirer. But, the little sad thing was, he didn't mention his name or any personal information, but he just expressed his admiration. The woman was instantly overjoyed by this approach. How elegant and romantic it was! She set the bouquet next to the window, and hoped he would visit her later. The rest of the day, she passed her work hours with an eternal smile. Then, when she came back home in the afternoon, she felt herself strangely even more seized by that new morbid curiosity. She did her housework, and lay in her couch, waiting for a sign until it became dark outside. Still, no sign of a man.

She crawled to bed, and even though she was tired, she couldn't block away her wild imagination. She kept fantasizing and dreaming about this man until she finally fell asleep. The next morning, she came out of her house to go to work, but she was once again surprised by another bouquet at her doorstep. She picked it up and went inside again, only to find it having the same note as yesterday's. "Did he think I didn't get the previous one ?" Thought the woman worriedly. "And how come he always puts it so early in the morning ?" "He sure means every word in this note if he puts that much effort into it." And so she went to work, mostly distracted by her wild thoughts about this mysterious man, and when she came back home, the night passed just liked the first night. No sign of the man. She slept herself that night as well with dreams and fantasies. But what could she do ! He left so much space between them that she felt obliged to fill it, even with her thoughts if she could.
The third and fourth morning went exactly the same. The same bouquet, the same note, and the same timing ! "Okay! This man must be extremely shy.. This must be it. And the next morning ?" The woman told herself. "I will catch him red-handed when he puts down the bouquet.."

Later at night, she drank a lot of coffee to stay awake. There was no way he would get away with it this time. But, fancies never left her mind as she sat next to her window. As curious and determined as she was, the woman kept herself awake most of the night, only to sleep, however, halfway through it. The poor woman couldn't make it...

When she woke up in the morning, she ran through her house like a lunatic and opened the door. And there lay again the bouquet of flowers. She almost screamed in anger. She took it inside and read the note as she always did, but this time, there was something else. She found an address! She breathed out in relief, and decided to skip work that day. She dressed herself well, and went immediately to the mentioned address. The taxi took her there, and when she got out of the car, she beheld a magnificent building. "Does this belong to him ? Is he then a businessman of some sort ?" She wondered.
She went inside the fancy building and was welcomed by one of the employees there, who, strangely, greeted her by her name and asked her to follow him. Things were getting confusing and exciting at the same time. She also glanced in her way a lot of women waiting here and there, a lot of workers rushing about the building, but she could not have the slightest idea what it was about.

"You may enter !" Said the employee to the woman when they reached a fancy office. "The boss is waiting for you."

"The boss !" The word rang loud through her head! "So, he is the boss of this company ! Nice"
She went into the office, and found a man seated there. He stood up and came to shake her hand, and while her heart was not beating, she noticed how old he was. He was way older than her...

"You are miss Leslie I presume ?" He asked.

"Yes." She answered with a trembling voice.

"Well, miss Leslie, this will come as a surprise to you, but I want to congratulate you and thank you for being such a great help to us."

"Help ? How ?"

"You should know by now that you have been part of a social experiment that we have been conducting for a week now."

 "A social experiment ?"

"You see," the man went on "We had conducted several social experiments before, but this one was to test how powerful can flowers be in a relationship. The results, I must confess, were truly surprising. I never thought flowers can have that much influence on women. This finding will greatly help us in our marketing strategy. By the way, how was your experience ?"

Leslie stared at him blankly. "So you are saying there is no man behind this ?" Leslie asked, still in confusion...
The man laughed at her awkwardness and told her "Ah okay. The influence was clearly powerful on you. But, you know, since we have manipulated your feelings, we will offer you a compensation for it. So, you may claim it from the employee who conducted you here. Have a nice day miss Leslie."

Leslie went out of the office, her mind blank, not knowing what on earth had just happened. The employee showed her the way again and offered her the reward. Then at the door, he smiled at her and wished her goodbye. She walked back home, thinking, depressed and puzzled, her dreams were nothing but pure fiction. She sat by the window later in her house and gazed outside then back at the bouquets lined next to the window. She was beginning to get over it, but there was one thought that kept repeating over and over in her mind. "Never ever again accept flowers from an unknown man..."

Why Should You Read Books ? by Allen

How many times did you glance a book laying ignored in some corner of your house?
Multiple times ?? The poor thing! It must be so dusty and lonely! But, I think I know why you have been finding hard it to get along with it. It's simply that you still don't realize what the company of a book can give you. But, one thing I'm sure of is you are missing out a great deal! You must have seen, though, that some people have adopted a daily habit of reading books. That's because such people know a good amount of the numerous benefits which they obtain from books. That being the case, we have listed for you only five benefits, and they are huge !

1- Mental Acuity :

Books are one of the salient tools to keep our minds sharp and healthy. The brain, being a muscle, is therefore required to train regularly in order to stay active and stimulated. Some of the aspects you will boost are your memory and critical thinking. You will notice that whatever comes your way, whether it's a mentally challenging task or a thought-provoking one, you will easily penetrate through it if you are an avid reader of different books. This returns to the fact that being engaged in a book while keeping track of multiple events, or absorbing new information, will hone you the skill of rapid grasping and shrewdness. It has also been hypothesized that keeping one's mind active will chase away any possible mental diseases such as Alzheimers.

 2- Knowledge Acquisition :

There is no greater feeling than learning something new everyday. And the best way to do it is through reading books. Imagine the amount of knowledge you will get from each one you read. Better yet, you will find them very handy when dealing with your daily life or work. Besides the fact that you will grow an intellectual profile too, you will also enrich your personality with different fascinating intelligences, for instance, imaginative, linguistic, emotional, and logical ones... Moreover, you will gain confidence when interacting with people because you will always have something interesting to say.

3- Peaceful Mind :

When you isolate yourself to read a book, you are actually dedicating a time to release the stress and the anxiety that the world forced you to experience. The same way some people meditate, similarly you will allow your mind clear up the confusion and silence the noise. For instance, reading a great story fills you up with positive feelings and tranquility because it transfers you to another world where you will let your imagination run wild. It's where you will let your internal desires be poured and expressed. More importantly, reading allows your mind to detach from the world temporarily to release the junk of negative feelings and come back with a refreshed mind.

4- Increasing Vocabulary:

Words are powerful tools, and surely, their scarcity in your mental repertoire will keep your mind reduced and limited. In the famous book of 1984 by George Orwell, the author narrates a dystopian story where the world becomes manipulated by the government. Interestingly, their manipulation was essentially on the language level. The author mentions several times how language can affect thoughts, and therefore the ability to think. The government imposed an official language called "Newspeak" in which they reduced language to the minimum possible of words. For example, instead of good, superb, excellent and so on, there were only "good and plus-good". Thus, they successfully forced people's minds to be reduced to only very few meanings in order to be incapable to think for themselves. Having a wealth of vocabulary will enable you to express yourself accurately and fluently. And it can aid you in your professional career or social encounters.

5- Entertainment :

It's so amazing how we can be entertained so cheaply by books. However we wish to entertain ourselves, we will always find the book types that suit our preferences. Ranging from literature, poetry, philosophical, religious, self-help, and comical books, you can always find the perfect book to have some fun. You will laugh to tears, cry happily, wander about the house thoughtfully, and dance at the end if it's a happy ending. The best part is books are everywhere ! If you don't have a local library or if you are low in financial income, you will find the free PDF or ePub version that are as enjoyable as paperback books. Just dedicate a 20 minutes of fun book reading everyday, and you will be stunned with the impressive changes that will rock your world. Go pick up that lonely dusty book go !

"Bookishly In Love"

                                 Bookishly In Love

He gathered the book from the ground, then dusted it off as he stood. He gazed at its cover. "The Last Song" By Nicholas Sparks. It was one of his favourite Romance books. The cover had a beautiful picture of a beach where a few footsteps were traced on the wet sand. Opening the book on the first page, he glanced a name written in an elaborate penmanship "Sophie Dawning".

…..

Daniel had an afternoon work shift in downtown bookstore. It was by all means quite humble in appearance. Its front brick-wall facade was a navy-blue, and it had a glassy window which displayed some fancy bestsellers to attract the by-passers. Being located at the corner next to the coffee shop, it became also a sort of ritual that the books purchasers would turn just around the corner and drink a hot cappuccino while they admired their new book. This way, both shops benefited each other and attracted more customers.
Daniel that afternoon carried his cup inside the bookstore as well. It smelled like a mixture of wood and old books inside, and between the aisles lingered an agreeable coziness about the bookshelves. The costumers always found it peaceful and homely. He sipped at his cup behind the counter, and looked through half-closed eyes at the silent empty aisles. It was another routinely afternoon. It didn't take long, though, until the front door, so suddenly, was pushed just slightly open, and at once caused the bells to shake and send a gentle ringing across the empty bookstore. Daniel peeked from the counter and remarked a fine woman still standing at the door. She appeared to be hesitant for a moment, as if waiting for a compassionate voice to welcome her. Then, in an instant, she released her nervous grip from her purse and advanced toward the first aisle. Her easy and light gait was so elegant and feminine. Her attire was a soft clothing of pink and white that flowed almost to her ankles, yet it was too simple a dressing to really attract any onlookers. Daniel presently was rather absorbed in staring at her slender hands as she picked up one of the books. Their white skin was giving off a mesmerising brilliance. It seemed to hold his eyes hostages as he stared. He couldn't look away, and felt as though if he quit "paying" attention, he might not retrieve his sight intact. She went around the aisle and came back carrying another book in her hands; such beautiful hands. She set the two books on the counter and smiled warmly at Daniel, who, if not blinking, would be mistaken to be frozen.

"It's 35 dollars." He said.

"Okay." She returned with a low, attractive voice.

"I hope you did not judge the book by the cover." He added, motioning with his chin at the book with a fancy and colourful cover.

"No," She said placidly as she handed him the money. "I actually have read a lot about them and found them quite intriguing."

"Hum..." He mumbled, half preoccupied now with giving back her change.

When she sandwiched the two books in her purse silently, the woman looked up at him again, apparently for a last time, and Daniel noticed a fleeting passion steal at her hazel eyes as if she just remembered something else.
"I was hoping I would return home with three books, but, unfortunately, I did not find the third one in your library." She cordially said.

"Is that so ? Well, how about I recommend another book for you?" He leaned on the counter, smiling.

"But, I'm the kind of reader who has to know a lot about the book before reading it."

"And there is no issue. I can tell you about it abundantly."

"Superabundantly !" She insisted earnestly.

He laughed at her excitement, and then nodded. "There is a coffee shop close-by, would you like to come tomorrow to discuss it ?"

"That would be lovely.." Was her courteous and sweet reply.

The next day, they met at the coffee shop in the early morning. They seated themselves next to an open window, and the conversation smoothly shifted from small-talk to likes and wishes. It was so easy and spontaneous. A cold whispering air occasionally fondled with her dark curls as she spoke delicately about her favourite books. Daniel had learned that her name was Sophie, and was since then becoming increasingly infatuated by her manners and candour. The sunlight began streaming some golden strings across their table, and slowly, the sense of time started to fade away as they hopped from one topic to another.

"I'm sure you would adore his style. He is a genius!" Exclaimed Daniel after he had spent quite a long while talking about the book he wanted to recommend for her. "The Glittering Court by Richelle Mead." He said the title again by an impulse of pride.

"The plot really set me on edge." She confessed, "I can't wait to read it." He watched her eyes glisten eagerly with a tinge of green in the gentle sunlight.

"I will bring the book for you to read in about a week." He told her.

"Really?"

"On second thought, maybe not." His tone was half teasing and half serious.

"Oh please, I will be forever grateful if you do so. Besides, next week happens to be my birthday." Sophie said, "And since my family is also bookish, it would be wonderful to have you attend the party and bring me the book."

"That seems like fun. I enjoy birthday parties, so I would definitely not miss it."

"Amazing!" She exclaimed.

He leaned closer toward her and murmured. "But, you will have to conduct me to your room too, show me some of your treasured pictures and items..." And then he winked to her. Sophie backed away from him, covered with smiles and blushes...

Surprisingly, they spent the next days meeting again and again everyday, each time taking a long walk together to special places around the city. How delightful their meetings were! They never kept track of what was said. It was simply a pleasant experience to talk together. Sometimes they talked so much that they blurted things they never expected to tell a person. The flow of words was like breathing, and they just couldn't stop it for a long time... At other times, the harmony and empathy of their talk were uncovering their buried sentiments, their old memories that they couldn't reach before. And it felt good; it was a peaceful tingling feeling somewhere inside their chests. The moment they met, they were both thrilled to begin discovering something new about each other, to find those unique little details about a person's personality and smile happily at them. It all felt like putting together pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, the more you put the pieces the more the beautiful picture emerged and the more you get that sense of self-gratification.

Two days before Sophie's birthday, they met half-way down the road to the bookstore. Having agreed to pass some time together, they walked across the silent street toward a nearby open park, and there, by the evergreen tree, rested a shadowed wooden bench, which they found a shelter from the burning sun. They blabbered on about their news, amusedly teasing each other one time or another. And that very carelessness of speech led them to a peacefulness of heart, for which Daniel had longed and now gravely sighed in relief. It had them embrace a moment of silence. Yet, it was not an awkward silence, but it felt comfortable, in fact, it was somehow more convenient that way.

"I have a younger sister who is quite a careless heedless little soul." Sophie suddenly broke the silence. "She is fond of pictures and paintings, and for some reason, she always liked staring at the covers of my books." Daniel smiled sympathetically at that as though he just sighted something adorable. "The most favourite book cover she liked," she proceeded, "was that of Nicholas Sparks entitled The Last Song. A month ago, she went to a camp, and the misfortunate me, I didn't think she would take the book with her. When she came back, the book was nowhere to be found."

"She lost it." Added Daniel intently.

"Yes, and I was enraged by what she did because I never finished that book."

"But, you can buy a new one." His voice was calm and reassuring, something Sophie was beginning to like about him. Despite that, she turned her head away this time and looked far ahead, apparently searching for words, then she turned her passionate eyes to meet his eyes and began speaking with determination.

"That loss set me thinking. How can one be so attached to an unreal story contained in a book, yet be so detached from the real world where emotions and feelings can be felt way better than fiction?" She asked, but Daniel now became silent, his expression emptied of any emotion. "That night I reclined on the couch and I was instantly immersed in my wild imagination. I wondered "How wonderful would it be if that book is returned to me by the hands of a caring person, of a loving gentleman whom I shall consider the one. " She said, this time more talking to herself than to Daniel.

"That's very silly." Interrupted Daniel rather frankly. She pursed her lips and said nothing. She couldn't disagree. "What if an old man finds the book ? You would seriously date him ? " He suddenly asked. Sophie wrinkled her nose in disgust and pushed him away from her.
Then, he caught her hands apologetically and they began laughing heartily together.

"Tell me," she said through the giggles, "How would you like to meet the one you are looking for ?"

"Oh no, I don't want to be chased by a wrinkly old lady"

Her sweet laughter went louder this time, and she covered her mouth to calm herself. "Seriously, tell me." She insisted with an awkwardly laughing tone.

"I have no opinion." He said reservedly.

"I know you do. You have read countless romance books, so you must have one." He quietened, his expression too neutral and distant.

"I think love as that is silly." He finally said, "imaginary, and too ideal to be true. I mean, how can such a perfect love happen in a life that is so disorderly ? What life has prepared for you, Sophie, is completely outlandish to what you imagine." His words sounded so bitterly realistic. Her lips parted slightly, in an attempt to share what she thought, but she was surprised to see him turn away from her and stare down at the pavement. He appeared suddenly like an outsider; his presence invisible and cold. Even though she was puzzled, Sophie decided to refrain from speaking and wished to let a moment pass to drown out his passiveness. Yet, she couldn't help being worried about what just went amiss for Daniel, who was now unusually silent and abstracted.

"I think it's time to go." He rose abruptly from the bench. "It's getting late."

She rose herself, reluctantly, and followed after him in silence, one single thought was disturbing her. "It's definitely not getting late." A single word was not uttered on the way, not until the point they separated and he wished her goodbye with a forced smile. It got her madly confused. But, she made no comments.

The next two days, Sophie visited the bookstore at Daniel's shift time to see him again, but she didn't find him there. When she payed enough visits and Daniel still didn't come, she found it odd and therefore asked the bookstore owner about his whereabouts, but the poor old man was of no clue. He complained to her that he needed him too, and, sadly, Daniel was nowhere to be found...

On Sunday afternoon, a noisy and loud chattering was heard all over the house. Kids were running up and down the stairs, making an unbearable clatter, and the party music was playing in the background. When the guests entered the kitchen, none of them seemed to notice Sophie just sitting there, staring blankly out the window. She was wearing a bright yellow dress with blue flowery design, and round her waist, was strapped a clean kitchen apron. She listened to the guests' laughter rise and how their amused voices filled the ample house with joy and fun. But, none of them really noticed her. Some of them must have thought that she was someone else, and though others should have recognised her, they apparently just satisfied their curiosity with "she is just waiting for someone". Well, perhaps the latter was, in fact, true.

As she placed her palm over her cheek and continued staring in an melancholy air, her mind began drifting back to her recent memories. How easily they perturbed her usual composure. They inflicted upon her a distress so heavy that she felt her heart was full. She had never thought that things would end up this way, this terrible way, and found herself consequently feeling so unwell and sad that she thought it best to just let go. So, she busied herself with some chores, ran here and there, helping around the house, and left time pass at its own pace until the party almost came to its last event. It was a moment so eagerly awaited by everyone. Sophie held the knife with both hands before the eyes of the guests; such beautiful hands. When she sliced through the birthday cake, the guests cried so merrily. A faint clapping emerged from amongst them as they congratulated her, and quite helplessly, she had that sad smile plastered over her pale face, Sophie retired to her own room later, and was by all means quite fatigued and weary. She let herself fall on her bed, feeling underneath her the soft sheets caressing her skin. Tranquil and silent, the room began to impress on her a tempting sensation of sleep. She closed her eyes and slowly drifted into an effortless slumber.
Barely a minute elapsed and then the door was suddenly hammered hard several times, and thereupon caused Sophie to awaken with such a disoriented and disturbed state of mind. She started up and hurried to open the door, and there stood her little sister with the most excited expression Sophie saw that whole day.

"I have a gift for you Sophie! Happy birthday !" Her sister handed her an adorned beautiful box.

"Whose gift is this ? You made it ?" Sophie asked her.

But her sister gave no reply, and instead ran away childishly to play with the other kids downstairs. Sophie was confused, as she could not believe her sister, at such a young age, would take the time to make her a gift.

Left alone in her room again, she began opening her sister's box, and by the time the gift inside it was becoming visible, so did Sophie's eyes grow wider and wider. Surprise literally opened her mouth when she gazed at what seemed like the book her little sister had lost months ago in the camp. "The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks" was beautifully engraved on its cover. She opened the book at the first page and found her very name scribbled on it. The same handwriting. The same signature! She inhaled uneasily as she tried to understand how did her sister get the book again. Did she just come across it lying on the ground?

She sank in a myriad of questions, restlessly thinking, and just as the book moved slightly on her lap, she accidentally spotted a piece of paper half-hidden between the pages. She pulled it out quickly and read the note on it :

Dear Sophie,
I want to be unrealistic. I want to challenge life's cruel decisions with our dreams. Most important of all, I want to see you again. Can you meet me at the coffee shop ?
Happy Birthday...
                                                                                                Daniel.

''Books Vs Ebooks'' By Allen

Think about the last time you had a pleasurable reading. Was it in a book or an ebook ?

Not sure ?

Well books, whether electronic or paperback, have always been the source of our knowledge progress. They have shaped the very identity of the world, and thereupon become the reason of its development since its infancy. They have been the canvas where we drew our philosophical and imaginative ideas, the vehicle that will carry us to a far more exceptional world in the distant future. And finally, they are the animate picture of our ancestors' primitive lives that transferred to us the sweet memories of humanity. However, in the course of this progress, books have come to face a twist in their history. They have separated into paperback and electronic, and to some worried readers, the difference between the two is generating a profound impact on the nature of reading.

Some might insist that ebooks are easily accessible, but others would praise the beauty of paper-books. But, it doesn't stop at that because there are plenty of advantages and disadvantages that govern the two.

So, what's the best tool for reading ?

The majority of readers would argue that reading shall never be thought of as electronic. After all, the origin was a paper-book, and it's been the case for so many centuries that simply we cannot detach the image of a book from learning. In fact, its mere name would conjure up the impression of profound wisdom and knowledge. As such, some traditional people, mostly the elderly, consider ebooks now but a helpless attempt to replace the real books, a sort of fake copycat that endeavors to destroy the charm of paper-books with its exaggerated and superficial modernity. For teenagers, however, ebooks are rather perceived as the new vogue, an elevation from the obsolete to excellency. They would praise the plentiful functions you use for more pleasing experience, and the different colors and fonts you may apply by a sole tap of the thumb. Paper-books for them are a waste of space and burdening weight to carry wherever you go.

Aside from this, the issue of reading should be rather focused on which type provides comfort and the best atmosphere for reading and knowledge acquisition.

Debate : Book Vs Ebook (Poem)

 (Book starts)

"How awful !" The book cried,
"To have degraded reading to this bottommost level"
"I condemn you as a disgrace with an inflated pride!"
"In fact, you are nothing but a distraction, a malicious devil!"

 (Ebook)

"Look at yourself!" the ebook bitterly replied.
"Your pages have become tattered and yellow"
"Your spine is brittle and your value had died"
"You belong to the past old fellow"

"What is old for you is, in fact, rather special and refined."
"For, the touch of my pages is soothing and enjoyable."
"And my unique smell refreshes the weary mind"
"This is why I can be resold, collected, and thus, become more valuable."

"These are just unnecessary preferences."
"As for me, I can be instantly accessed and easily obtained."
"You mean how you spread plagiarism and destroyed the meaning of "references" ?"
The book asked in sarcasm and the ebook quietened, extremely ashamed.

(Book continuing)

"I have led humanity to this glorious age"
"And so, any sane soul would gaze upon me with a grateful smile"
"For, I'm the precious jewel in the palms of a sage."
"So cheaply contrived but very worthwhile"

(Ebook again.)

"Unlike you, I have a brought a radical change."
"Departing from the ancient, I have proved your ways to be lacking efficiency and style. "
"I may be slightly costly but in exchange ?"
"I can store many books from which you would be making a huge pile"

"Space is incomparable to the priceless human sight !"
"Do you not reason or has your mechanism gone mad ?"
"You have damaged their eyes with your unnecessarily colorful light."
"Then, demolished the charm of attending a bookstore, to which I truly feel sad."

"Enough with your technophobia!" The ebook said out of spite.
"Whichever little flaw you find you immediately declare the thing in question as bad."
"People can read me in the warmth of bed at midnight."
"Plus, I provide other functions, options, highlights, and notes to add."

 (Audiobook comes in and interrupts)

"Why, dear fellows, do you have to dwell into such mutual hostility?"
"Reading should not be exclusive to one of you."
"For example, I have introduced reading through listening which, indeed, is of greater utility"         ''Hence, let us all be used, if you have any clue."

"Despite of how annoying and monotonous your voice can be,"
"I do think your words have some truth" the book said.
"Then, " ebook continued "it shall be marvelous if the three of us all agree,"
"all what matters is that the love of reading should be further spread !"

                                ********* End *********

Indeed, as we have seen through the poetic debate, each of the two presents itself as a better tool under certain circumstances, and it therefore would be somewhat opinionated to restrict oneself to, say, only book reading. So, it is beneficial to use the suitable tool when the opportunity demands.
